We are excited to share that Snow Globe is getting a new home! The primary catalyst for moving the community is that Jive, our current platform, will be shutting down at the end of March. To ensure we can continue to provide an active online community for our customers, we are migrating Snow Globe to the Salesforce Community Cloud on March 31, 2020. Our goal is to preserve as much of the current community as possible while ultimately providing you with a more consistent and connected experience.
We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this move. We have pulled together some FAQs for you to reference, and we will add more as we receive feedback from our users and finalize the details of the migration.
When will the migration happen?
The new community platform will launch on March 31, 2020.
What will happen to the existing content?
We should be able to migrate almost all of the historical content to our new community. This process may take a few weeks, but we are striving to preserve as much as possible. One important caveat is that there will be a window starting the week of March 10 when we need to download our database from Jive. That means any content created in the current community after that point will not be migrated. We will post an announcement on this date so you are aware of the cutoff.
What will happen to the content I created?
You do not need to move your content. The content associated to your account will still be on your user profile in the new community, however this may take some time to fully populate.
Why are we changing platforms?
Our current platform has reached its end of life. But this is also an opportunity to provide our users with a more intuitive modern community that will be better synced with our Knowledgebase and other support materials.
What will happen to my level and points?
The new community will have a different point structure and levels. However we will be migrating an equivalent amount of your points over with your profile. You will also be awarded with the corresponding expertise level within the new structure.
Will I need a new login?
You do not need to create a new account. Your login details will stay the same because your credentials are already held within the Salesforce Single Sign-On.
Is the URL for the community staying the same?
Yes, the URL for the community will stay the same: https://community.snowsoftware.com/
Will there be any training on the new platform?
Yes, the new community will have helpful guides to get you started.
