Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC) Won't Open

Issue

On rare occasions the Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC) interface will not open. Once the icon is clicked on nothing happens. 

 

SMACC Log

Looking at the SMACC log (Located at %APPDATA%\SnowSoftware\Logs\SnowMACC.log) we see the error message:

2017-08-29 15:42:36 DEBUG SnowSoftware.Program:Main - SnowMACC starting..
2017-08-29 15:42:36 ERROR SnowSoftware.Program:Main - System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'LicenseManager.Plugin, Version=8.0.6407.21626, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)

 

Fix

This is caused by corrupt SMACC files and can be fixed following the steps below. If you do not have a workign copy of the SMACC to access please contact support@snowsoftware.com for current SMACC fil

Assuming you have installed Snow in the default locations, here are the instructions.

 

  1. On the faulty SMACC server using file explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Tools
  2. Rename the folder SmaccPlugin to SmaccPlugin.Faulty (Just in case you need these files at a later point)
  3. Connect to a working SMACC server (Or get the files from support) and copy the folder C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Tools\SmaccPlugin to the same location on the Faulty SMACC server.
  4. Start SMACC on the faulty server, and hopefully everything will be working again
