This is a high level presentation that the Snow pre sales team uses when explaining what options are available via the current Snow for ServiceNow Integration.
Hi marc.farmen, what does "combine existing discovery and inventory data with Snow Normalized Software titles" (on slide 3 point 3) mean?
I am referring to existing inventory sources feeding into ServiceNow. Typically this would be something like SCCM that would send raw inventory data including .exe's and not normalized titles. Snow would also feed the normalized title to ServiceNow. Under each CI you can choose to view a "Normalized" software list or see all of the raw data fed by other solutions.
Thanks. So in my understanding, it could fix an example like this:
Example MS Project.
Snow Software recognizes the correct software names. We have Snow License Manager in our environment and it records MS project as Microsoft Office 2013 Project Professional. This is 100% correct. But in our ServiceNow, we record it as MS Project 2013 (We are in the process of trying to align to Snow names). For the ServiceNow connector, will it duplicate the Software? So example computer name XSTJ51 when the connector is installed will have both Microsoft Office 2013 Project Professional and MS Project 2013 assigned to it? (even though they are the same software).
You are correct. in the view of the CI XSTJ51 you can filter one view of non normalized (MS Project 2013) and the Snow normalized title (Microsoft Office Project 2013 Professional). This will allow you to see all data sources for each CI but only view that data that is important to you.
The alternative is to purge the CI records and only have the Snow Normalized name.
