Can someone tell me a way to determine if the endpoint inventory file has been sent via the Service Gateway or via the Internet please?
You can see within the snowagent.log (usually under C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Inventory\Agent\data) if a snowpack has been sent successfully to the Inventory Server or Gateway.
I'm pretty sure that you can check the status of sent snowpacks on the Gateway in the logs at C:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Inventory\Server.
Are you experiencing any issue with forwarding Inventory files?

Thanks for the response and sorry for the slow reply. I was meaning at a more holistic view. i.e checking Agent health and Service Gateway health. We are a hoster of 50 tenants and knowing if you are receiving inventory primarily via the Service Gateway is a valuable metric to measure.
It would be great if within SLM at a computer level you could see not only when the computer was last scanned but also how the inventory was collected/shipped.
Good points, however you can check the following in SLM:
In this screenshot you can see that the client version is 6.2.1 for Windows since the OS is displayed on top. The last scanned date top right indicates the date when the scan actually ran. The transfer date shows when the inventory data has been processed from the inventory database to SLM.
If you'd use Snow Integration Manager, the Client Version would show a version i.e. 5.16:
The Service Gateway will only be shown in the Snow Inventory console via SMACC.
Eventually these would be good Ideas for our Snow Ideas Board ?
Thanks geoffrey.macquet and adam-alphagen for your repsonses.
So, currently, this cannot be determined within SLM but is a good Idea Board topic. Got it, will do. Please vote :-)
Adam, I can id where inventory file is received from by going here in SMaCC? All the configs have two options the local Service Gateway and via the internet. so in this case below it is being sent via the internet and not the Gateway?
Thanks for your help.
you can gather this data from the Inv SMACC. When you click on a device it shows the server name which is the most recent server. Sorry, but I'm not sure that this info can be reported on though....
