In SLM you can filter machines based off "Client Configuration". My question is where is the "client configuration" value set. My guess is that it is set in the .config file of the agents, but could anyone confirm this?
Yes you are correct. the ConfigName is defined in the config file that is used by the agent, this is something you can populate to allow you to filter based on the config being used, for example you may have different config files with different settings, e.g. scan times, reg keys, locations etc. So by defining the config name, you can identify which clients are using which configuration.
In inventory 5 this is defined in the snowagent.config file, look for
<Agent> <SiteName>Site</SiteName> <ConfigName>Config1</ConfigName> </Agent>
in Inventory 3, this setting is in the client.ini file, look for
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the quick answer Mark!
