I want to update existing all licenses with the custom field, is it possible?
From a snow point of view, no, you cannot update the licenses as far as I'm aware. Though, you could if you were savvy enough, go into the SQL Database and create a script that'll update that specific column to whatever you wanted for all of them.
You could also think about exporting all of your licenses and then re-importing with that custom field included.
You would have to take into consideration anything you have already put against those licenses and whether that would be captured in the export/import process.
I wouldn't advise carrying it out yourself unless you have experience in doing so as there are many considerations to take into account.
This would be a more common practice for a Snow Licensing Administrator.
Would that not remove all uploaded documents assigned to each license also?
Yeah quite right, that's what I mean by the need to understand what you have against the licenses and what would be captured in the export/import process.
This is certainly an aspect that would need to be considered.
Heya Tom.Boyle !
Sounds like a nice little feature request idea... I've had a play around in the database before and it doesn't look like it'd be all that hard (Always easier said than done!) to have an Update License feature for things like this.
Had a few times where I've wanted to update a column for a whole bunch of Licenses and being able to do that would be very handy, would definitely resolve OP's case as well!
Great idea Laim, I've created a Feature Request, FR0002266, in your name.

thank you for your question. To be able to add and/or update a custom field for (all) licenses, you could do this by using the import functionality provided directly in SLM, besides doing this one by one.
The first step would be to create your custom field that needs to added to the license(s)
select the right "category" and your desired "type" and save the custom field
If you wish to add the custom field to a large set of licenses, I would suggest to use the import functionality. For this you would first need to create the rights import template, which you can do by easily making an export of the set of licenses - that are already in your own SLM environment - you want to add the custom field to. In this following example, I only want to update my Adobe licenses, so I first need to create an export of that sub-set "using the reports from the report category!":
After you have exported this to XLS/XLSX, just open the excel file and add the additional column(s) (your custom field(s)) and populate the appropriate cells with your new data:
Your next step, would be to import this excel sheet directly into SLM. to easily add the new data. You'll find the import functionally under the home button. After selecting the correct import - in your case the "license" import - just follow the 5 steps of the import.......
........and after you finished the import, and go back to either the report or look up the list of all licenses, you will see that you can add the new custom field as an additional column, and it will show the data in each cell:
For more information about how to import or update data in SLM, you might wish to check out our import guide. You can find this guide (PDF-file) in SLM, by navigating to your user name in the top right corner and selecting the option "help". From there, you'll be able to download the import guide:
