Is there anyone who experience problem with the notification feature? Setting up works fine but sending/receiving mail does not work.
Have you already raised a support ticket with Snow?
They have the tools and expertise to troubleshoot and hopefully fix quickly.
You can find their contact info here: Snow Support
or alternatively firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for Quick answer! Yes, we have a couple of tickets regarding notifications ongoin. They mention that we have to wait for a new release, I am just curious if it works somewhere else.
I noted this when we upgraded to Version 8 late last year. It does not accept the e-mail address format meaning you can't set up a new e-mail notification or amend existing ones. I have a ticket open with Snow Support but still awaiting update.
I don't believe that this can be done with a release as we use this function a lot.
Thanks a lot, that confirms the defect. Last information from Snow is that it will be resolved in next release in beginning of February.
Have a good day!
Hi maria and colin
I'm not so sure this is accurate (at least not currently). Notifications should work in general as I was doing some testing related to notifications yesterday and I did receive several emails: There can of course still be issues related to specific criterias set etc, but I would recommend that you validate your SMTP settings in SMACC and/or send an email to email@example.com specifying how your notifications and their criteria are set up. You could also try adding simple notifications as a start, where you don't add additional criterias (e.g send a notification when a computer/license is added/deleted). Also please check the notification logs (by default located here: C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Logs\NotificationDelivery) to see if there are errors in them. Best / Jonas
I'm stuck with the same problem... Did you found a solution yet?
Thanks and regards,
Hi,we have the same problem here and it hasn't worked since september 2016! We have a ticket open at Snow but no solution yet. Neither new release 8.2.5 or 8.2.6 did help.We took a look at the SQL-question that the system create when a notification is made by a user in the web interface. The standard question made by the Snow software seems to be wrong, it asks for a table that doesn't exist. (mf.Name LIKE '%IBM%') and with the %IBM% marked in red = error.Regards,Michael
I'm afraid you have misinterpreted what is happening in your scenario.
- Everything within single quotes will (by default) be marked in red text in SQL Server Management studio. It doesn't mean there's an error there, it's just color coding.- In your example we are not looking for a table called IBM. - The string %IBM% was added by whoever added the manufacturer criteria of the notification, which means the query is looking for the value: "IBM" anywhere within the column: "Name" in the manufacturer table alias: "mf"
What's more likely is that the table alias has been changed from "mf" in the procedure. This is very much fixable, but it should be possible to work around the issue already now by not using criterias for manufacturer in your notification.
Best / Jonas
