We are scheduled to go through our Microsoft and Adobe True-Up very shortly and I've a large number of Inactive and Quarantined devices.
Ideally before we start the True-Up we need to get on top of this as we will likely be charged for licences that we don't actually use.
Has anyone got knowledge or completed a bulk update of the ‘end of life’ assets being updated in SNOW to the Archive status and the disposal date and disposal reference being populated in the appropriate field?
I have asked for reports of our EOL devices so I can compare these to Snow - I haven't yet completed a bulk upload so will guidance advice.
Does anyone have a Snow Template that they use for this purpose.
Many Thanks
Hi JamesReading
I would suggest carrying this out with two separate imports.
You can get an "Import template" (in this case Update existing computers) from the Import data menu option under Home in Snow License Manager.
The first Update existing computers import you can update each computer with the "Disposal date" and "Disposal reference" (I don't believe these are standard fields so I assume these are custom fields you have added).
For the second Update existing computers import you will first need to export a list of all of the computers you have in the List all computers/All computers report (use minimal columns, you only need enough to identify each computer so Computer name/Bios Serial number is sufficient).
Then delete every row that represents a computer you want to archive.
Now when importing the remaining computers select Archive for Obsolete computer action in step 2:
You can then follow the rest through as standard.
So any computer not represented in the list you import will be Archived in Snow, so please take care you cannot get these back!
Also recognise that you are updating existing computers so any blanks fields you leave in your import will overwrite existing data in Snow.
You can delete columns you don't wish to effect.
Please let me know if you have any further questions relating to this.
