I recently setup Office 365 connector and i can see all our plans now under Cloud>Office 365 section. I can see our users in Snow under Users. How do i link the users from Office 365 portal against users in SLM?
I wrote a detailed post on this topic a little while ago:
What is user linking for Office-365 and how to manually link users in SLM
Please let me know if this helps or if you have further questions.
Please also check Snow Integration Connectors Discussion Forum. There's plenty of O365 questions with answers.
do you also use Active Directory data? Is there a e-mail adress entered in the user details? If so, the match should happen.
Oliver.Berger Do you have input for us?
I just checked a couple of domain users which are listed the only details it lists for them is their full name. The email address field is empty?
the question would be: Does your AD contain e-mails for each user?
Yes all our users have eail field populated in AD
I do have our Inventory Server set to do a LDAP discovery
Thanks for the link it was very informative and really helped, although I as getting an error when I tried for one user. I exported the list from a office plan I had and in the Username column I used domain\Username and in the email column I added their email (office365 username). After doing this and performing a manual aggregate of the office 365 connector I can see the plan shows active users. Is there anyway I can see in logs that the inventory server I had setup to an AD discovery for users is working properly?. As the Active directory discovery should have pulled the email for the user and populated the users email field but it hasn’t.
Glad that the post helped give you some more insight.
I am not sure about logging for Snow Inventory with the AD user discovery.
If you have access to the SQL databases, you can check both in Snow Inventory and SLM to see what data has been gathered:
SnowLicenseManager table: dbo.tblUserDiscovery
SnowInventory view: inv.vDiscoveryADUser
I would encourage you to reach out to support if the AD user discovery does not seem to be working correctly, they will be able to help you with more in depth troubleshooting .
Hope this helped,
Many thanks for your help it has really helped me out a lot i was left scratching my head thinking why is there no link to users. I have raised to support now to see why the LDAP discovery for users is not being pulled into Snow.
Hi @Thomas Sautelle,
Your article was really useful. Snow is maturing the O365 information super well. Question: I notice that you can link those Unlinked users now using "Check out our suggestions" which looks like exactly what I need for one of our Tenants. Silly thing is....some time ago for that Tenant is clicked the Dont Show Again on the popup :-(. How can I either regain access to the popup or directly access the "Suggestions" please? NB. the tenant has more than 80% linked so unfortunately I do not get the alert to click on. Thanks very much!@
I work it out. If anyone is interested by going to a tenant that I had not cleared the showing of the popup. you can use : http://youraddress/app/office365.html#/notLinkedUsers.
Have a question regarding linking. We have a case with 2 Active Directories (AD A and AD B).
We have configured AD Discovery for AD A for users and computers. We have set up Office365 connector and inventory process are performed by SCCM connector (agents are not installed).
There are users, which exist on AD A, but work on computers, which are placed in AD B - so, these users are not inventoried and can't be found in the SLM.
But we manage EMS licenses for these users through the Offi365 portal.
Can we get these users to the portal? As I understand correctly, ADD populates information only for users, which were inventoried or used discovered computer.
