Has anyone experienced "slowness" of the web application?
If so how did you rectify the IIS configurations?
There was some major updates done recently to SLM, November to be exact, but it might not be seen until later. What we did was off-load a lot of the Consistency Check to the SLM Web app and took it off the SQL server. This had 2 affects, the CC should be quicker, and the web server needs more resources. The requirements are listed here: System Requirements for Snow Products.
Basically, as Siegfried indicated, check your system out, make sure you are within requirements. That being said, frankly I would move it above the requirements, and have around 32 gig of RAM on the Front End system.
Slow in what way? Slow to refresh? Load? Screen changes?
Hi Nigel – how is your system configured? One improvement to speed up web application is to use a minimum of two CPUs, but this is only one option. Regarding of "slow in what" as Mark mentioned there are some more possibilities.
Hi Nigel. Do you mean slow buildup of the whole page or certain elements like the alert list?
How many snow servers does your environment have? And how many inventoried units do you have?
Are you On-Premise or using a hosted environment?
Is you SQL Server capable of handling the amount of queries comming from both inventory server and slm server?
Like the others said there can be multiple reasons but we first need to know a little more about the environment and a little bit more info regarding what you mean by slow web server.
Funny that you mentioned Alert list widget. Is it a common problem that Alert list widget has slow buildup or it stops working completely? Faulty Snow update perhaps?
I don't know if it is funny but I get the feeling you have seen this before also? I also don't know if it is common but it is funny because you mention it stops working completely. I have seen that before yes meaning the alert list taking a long time and finally presenting a blank result.
Hi Nigel - I am told there is a known issue with the alert widget causing the dashboard to load slowly. I would suggest removing it from the dashboard or maybe reducing the number of alerts to which you subscribe.
Thanks to everyone that replied to my question. I followed up on all of them and found that our server did not have enough resources to handle the amount of devices. I've read through the System requirements and we're increasing our RAM.
Thanks for the post here. Also for us this was helpful. We got the same problem and thanks to this post I checked the RAM... which was below the requirements.
Will be solved asap! From 10 GB to 24 GB
Hi all, by adding the extra memory, the response-time is much better. But, not what I expected. Also some weird behaviour when adding columns or moving columns. I opened a ticket!
