Hello - is there a way to add the serial number column into the existing Archive report in SLM?
Thanks for the time.Randy
I dont believe this is possible, once a computer is archived it releases the Snow license so most of the data is no longer available. I have had a quick look in the archived computer table in the database and I cant find Serial Number in there.
The Serial number data is still in the database somewhere. When I view an archived computer record, the BIOS Serial number shows in the hardware tab.
So, based off of that, should this be a feature request to Snow from all of us or a paid-for-change from a customer? In your opinions?
I think I've already submitted that as a feature request, but I wholeheartedly encourage others to submit the request as well. Considering the data is still in the system somewhere, it should just be a matter of recoding the archived computers report, which, IMHO, should not have to a be paid-for-change feature.
I have a ticket in, but will update to a feature request. (Am curious on the cost though, for something like this, easy change?)
I have asked this previously, and unfortunatley the answer was no.
I have taken to recording the device info, inlcuding BIOS Serial #, Last logged on user and Most frequent user in an Excel spreadsheet prior to archving the devices.
I'd suggest creating a custom "All Computers" report with the extra fields added, since the List all computers page will mean you have to keep adding in the custom fields.
Hope this helps.
Sadly, I have to say that is not possible nowadays.
By design, when a computer is masked as archived, the system store only some metadata on table tblComputerArchive.
This is done by the store procedure ComputerArchive:
Anyway, I suggest you to open a support case and inform about your needs. Maybe this could be consider as a feature request, depend on the demanding.
Mark, Greg and Jorge - thanks for the replies and confirmation that the information is not available in the existing Snow report. Also, thanks for the workaround thoughts.
