Yes, this is the normal behaviour. You can compare an archived computer with a deleted computer. It will be removed from the system tables. Only an archived computer will be placed in the Archived Computer tables, so you can view some of the details via the Archived Computer report.
An attachment is stored in the database so whenever you delete or archive a computer this will delete the data (including the attachment) from the system tables.
If you use a link instead of an attachment. For example, a link to the SharePoint environment which contains the documents you will still be able to browse to this link via the archived computer.
