Licensing Apps in a VDI Environment?

Question asked by Craig Moss Advocate on Jul 16, 2018

Good Morning Snowballs! (Not sure that one works...)

Our organisation is scoping the requirements to move to a VDI environment. I am preparing to "reach out" to vendors to get advice on how to remain compliant in such an environment. My main concern is that we will need to licence all potential users on the platform for each (or even certain) applications as opposed to only those that use it.

There must be people on here who are already on a VDI solution so I would welcome any advice and knowledge share in this area as vendors are notoriously... sketchy on providing concrete, straightforward instructions when it comes to licensing. I would much rather hear from people who have done it.

As far as Microsoft is concerned I believe that O365 will alleviate most licensing concerns but if anyone has experience with licensing the likes of Adobe, AutoDesk, SAP (Crystal) on VDI for a start or point me in the direction of some good sources to read up on it would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much.
