Is it possible to create Auto Connect Rules for manually created organisation structure, which will sort computers by operating systems in SMACC?
If no, what is the best practice to do that?
The Auto Connect rules are quite limited in the types of data they can use, I have already raised an enhancement request (FR0001428) to expand the data types available to make the auto connect rules more flexible.
In the meantime, you are limited so your best options are the Environment Variable, or Registry Key options in the auto connect rule, but both of those will require some work on your part.
All environment variables are collected by the inventory, so if you created a script to output the operating system name into an environment variable and run this on all of your computers (login script would probably be the best delivery method for this) then that value will be automatically collected next time the snow inventory runs.
Once you have the data you can create an autoconnect rule that looks at the value in that environment variable
The other option is Registry, now there is already a registry key that should contain the Operating System HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProductName but by default this key is not collected by the inventory process. You can customise your inventory scan to add in additional registry keys, I am not sure if you are using Inventory 3 or 5 so I won’t give you specific instructions here (Let me know which version if you want instructions)
Once the key is collected in the inventory, again you can create an auto connect rule that looks at the value of that registry key.
Hope that gives you some ideas.
Our Colleague Karim Boufaghes has created an Advanced Autoconnect Rules application which can do what you are requesting. This is no Snow application so there is no support but for us it works perfectly.

Thank you for reply! Sounds good, but I don't have access snowsoftware.atlassian.net. Is it possible to get this application from other shared place?
As we're also facing challenges with the auto connect rules (see How to create a huge number of auto connect rules? ) I'd be happy if you share some further details about the Advanced Autoconnect Rules application.
Unfortunately I cannot access that link either.
